Sleep is one of the three most important things you can do to help your body heal and recover from the physical and emotional stress that you endure during the day. The other two things include nutrition and hydration.
As I mentioned in this post, it’s important to have a pre-bedtime routine in order to prime your body to relax at bed time. A consistent routine will send the message to your body that it’s time to start producing the hormone melatonin. This hormone is what triggers the brain and body to relax and prepare for slumber.
Lavender essential oil (I use this one) is one of the most effective oils used in aromatherapy that promotes relaxation. Applying or diffusing this oil at bedtime as part of your evening routine can help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep all night. If you’re interested in other essential oils that promote sleep, check out this blog post.
This linen mist recipe is great for easing into sleep and for freshening up your sheets in the mornings. It smells amazing and is incredibly calming to the mind and body. A little goes a long way so one 16-ounce linen mist spray bottle should last 2-3 months with regular use.
Happy sleeping!
